How the remote monitoring system works

LATITUDE device image

Your LATITUDE home monitoring system gives your healthcare team access to your implant data between scheduled office visits. It is designed to improve the convenience and quality of your care, while giving you a well-founded sense of security.

Important to know

  • The LATITUDE Communicator checks your implant based on a schedule set by your doctor. The Communicator does not conduct continuous monitoring.
  • This data is sent to a secure website for your doctor to review.
  • LATITUDE does not reprogram or change any functions of your implant. Your implant still works even if your Communicator is not working.
  • The Communicator does NOT contact 911 during a health emergency. If you are not feeling well, call your healthcare provider or dial 911.

Sending your data to your doctor

Your Communicator wirelessly reads information collected by your implant and either sends this information to your doctor automatically or prompts you to send it at scheduled times. Depending on your system, LATITUDE can monitor and send your weight and blood pressure data, giving your doctor useful information in making your treatment decisions.

If you have a CRT, pacemaker or ICD implant

Your Communicator automatically collects information, such as how much energy is left in the battery, at scheduled times and sends it to your healthcare team. There may be times that the system prompts you to send data yourself.

Using your Communicator

If you have an EMBLEM S-ICD implant

Your healthcare team will set up a schedule for how often your Communicator should check information about your defibrillator and your heart condition. The white heart button will flash when it‘s time to check it and prompt you to send your data by pushing the button.

Using Your Communicator

Protected medical information

You can feel confident knowing LATITUDE uses advanced security methods to protect your medical information. Only authorized healthcare providers can access your information through the secure clinician website.

Health and safety benefits

In addition to making monitoring more convenient, LATITUDE can also substantially improve survival. Our LATITUDE study found that patients using LATITUDE home monitoring over the five years of the study had a 50% relative risk reduction of death compared to patients who only went to the clinic for implant checks.1
