Lumenis Pulse™ 120H Holmium Laser System with MOSES™ 2.0 Technology product shot.

Reducing retropulsion in lithotripsy treatment of kidney stones

For the treatment of stone disease, holmium laser lithotripsy is designed to be an effective tool for ablation. However, during standard laser lithotripsy, high-energy pulses may reduce procedural control, causing unwanted retropulsion of stone fragments. With recent advances in pulse modulation technology, this migration can be better managed from the outset.

MOSES™ 2.0 Technology uses patent-protected dual-pulse modulation to greatly improve energy transmission. Backed by robust clinical evidence, MOSES™ has demonstrated nearly a 50% reduction in stone retropulsion,1 a 33% improvement in fragmentation efficiency,1 and a 20% reduction in procedure time compared to standard holmium pulse models.1

Frequently Asked Questions

Using pulse modulation technology, MOSES™ has demonstrated 50% reduction in retropulsion compared to standard holmium laser pulses, potentially minimizing incidents of ureteral stone migration into the kidney and avoiding stone-chasing.1

Patent-protected pulse modulation technology like MOSES™ greatly improves energy transmission, demonstrating nearly 20% reduction in procedure time, 33% improvement in fragmentation efficiency, and 50% reduction in stone retropulsion compared to standard holmium pulse.1

In a bench study, using MOSES™ Technology for lithotripsy demonstrated less heat generation compared to standard holmium long pulse at some settings.2

Yes, the Lumenis Pulse 120H laser system with MOSES technology is a comprehensive, versatile platform, raising the standard and improving efficiency for both stones and BPH treatments in a value-based healthcare system.1,3
