About the foundations

Our mission

The Boston Scientific Foundation’s mission is to improve health and educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged persons, with an emphasis on communities where Boston Scientific employees live and work in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Established in 2001, the Foundation has been supporting science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and key health initiatives in our target regions for nearly 25 years.

Annual reports

The Boston Scientific Foundation proudly supports the problem solvers, innovators, and changemakers working to eliminate disparities in health and K-12 STEM educational for economically disadvantaged populations in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Areas of giving

Disaster relief and humanitarian aid

To support communities in times of large-scale crisis, our Disaster Relief & Humanitarian Aid program partners with on-the-ground organizations to address emergency needs.

Strategic grants

In 2025, we launched a new 3-year, $3M Advancing Healthcare Careers program with a goal of propelling more economically disadvantaged students to MD, PA or NP careers and improving access to care in underserved communities. We look forward to sharing their progress in the coming years.

Scholarships

We offer over $400k annually in academic scholarship program for children of eligible U.S. and Puerto Rico based Boston Scientific employees who are accepted and attend an accredited post-secondary undergraduate institution to pursue any course of study.

Foundation Ambassadors

Foundation Ambassadors are volunteers based in the United States or Puerto Rico, in key regions supported by the Boston Scientific Foundation. Members evaluate regional grant proposals from charitable organizations twice a year and make funding recommendations to the Board of Directors. Employee engagement provides opportunities for peer networking and meaningful involvement in charitable giving to local causes.

“I get to be part of something bigger—supporting real people with real ideas that can make a difference in STEM and health. It's inspiring to see how these grants can open doors, spark innovation, and genuinely improve lives. I'm proud to play a small role in helping that happen.”
