Behind the design

Check out how the cutting-edge technology used to make Fathom guidewires gives it the ability to effectively navigate the most tortuous distal anatomies.

Angled tip and radial lengths

  • Fathom-16 is available in both 200 and 215 cm lengths, specifically designed for radial access procedures.
  • Both Fathom-14 and Fathom-16 are available with a pre-shaped tip to help with accessing the most difficult vasculature.

Turn-for-turn torque control

  • Diamond-cut nitinol hypotube is designed to transmit turn-for-turn torque control to enhance responsiveness and maneuverability.
  • A lubricious hydrophilic coating on the distal segment and a PTFE coating on the proximal segment facilitate guidewire placement and catheter trackability.

Enhanced visualization, tip shapeability and steerability

  • Platinum-tungsten shapeable distal tip is engineered to achieve accurate placement while maintaining tip shape memory.
  • Variable stiffness along the length of the wire balances flexibility without compromising rail support.
  • Microfabrication technology
    • Diamond-cut nitinol hypotube distal segment
    • Alternating pattern of microscopic channels
  • Alternating pattern of microscopic channel combines distal flexibility with proximal stiffness designed to balance steerability, pushability, and kink resistance.
