Privacy Policy

The Purpose of this Policy:

It is the policy of Boston Scientific to comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing the processing of personal information. Implementation of this policy is subject to specific federal and state laws. When we refer to Boston Scientific, we mean Boston Scientific Corporation, including our affiliates and subsidiaries, including Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostics, Inc. Furthermore, Boston Scientific abides by the Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP) such as:

  • Management: Boston Scientific has a program designed to protect personal information in its possession or control. This is done through a variety of privacy and security policies, processes and procedures. This program is overseen by Boston Scientific's Global Privacy Office.
  • Notice: Boston Scientific, through this policy, provides notice about its privacy practices relating to personal information obtained through access to or utilization of Boston Scientific product and therapy content on the Showpad platform ("the Platform"). This policy may change from time to time. If Boston Scientific makes a material change to this policy, it will highlight such changes for at least 30 days. Your continued use of the Platform after revision to this policy means you accept those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.
  • Choice and Consent: Boston Scientific provides users the ability to choose and consent, where applicable, how personal information is processed by Boston Scientific and its service providers.
  • Collection and Use: Boston Scientific details further below the data collected and usage.

The Platform is intended for commercial use by healthcare and life science professionals and Boston Scientific is not knowingly or intentionally targeting children under the age of eighteen (18). If you believe your child may have submitted personal information and you would like to request that such information be deleted from our records, you may do so by contacting us via the contact options below.

Who is responsible for your personal information?

What is the Platform?

The Platform is a Showpad sales content management and buyer engagement tool that Boston Scientific utilizes to facilitate the delivery of product, services and therapy materials that are effective and tailored to individual interests and preferences, to analyze user interest in and interactions with the content, and to coordinate Boston Scientific and/or Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostics follow up with users of the Platform, as appropriate. What personal information may Boston Scientific collect and process through the Platform?

  • Contact information (for example, your name, email address and telephone number)
  • Usage/behavior statistics (for example, your sessions, views, interactions with the Boston Scientific content and the duration of such)
  • Connection information (for example, your device, IP address and geolocation)
  • Communications (for example, chat content, reviews, comments, admin announcements).

Boston Scientific shall endeavor to keep this information secure in accordance with applicable personal information protection laws and regulations.

For what purposes is the personal information being processed?

Boston Scientific collects and processes personal information through the Platform to:

  • Provide Boston Scientific product and therapy information
  • Provide Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostics product and services information
  • Send you product updates, newsletters, marketing communications, requested product or service information, fulfil services you have requested, and to understand your interests and preferences
  • Display personalized content
  • Understand Platform engagement for business follow up purposes, including lead generation
  • Provide technical support
  • Ensure quality and security
  • Conduct training, surveys or other research and analysis
  • Improve the Boston Scientific website, products and services, and marketing efforts
  • Optimize user experience
  • Prevent fraud and/or other malicious activity
  • Notify you of policy updates
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations and legal obligations
  • Protect Boston Scientific rights
  • To carry out other business initiatives permitted by law.

Boston Scientific may also anonymize and aggregate your personal information and re-use it for business operations, including but not limited to compiling statistics and performing research.

How long does Boston Scientific keep your personal information?

If you are a customer, we will keep your personal information that we collect through the Platform for a period of 5 years, unless a longer retention period is required under applicable law or regulation. Showpad will also purge the data after that period.

If you are a lead, we will keep your personal information that we collect through the Platform for as long as you remain active or you have not withdrawn your consent.

If you are a Boston Scientific employee, we will keep your personal information collected through the Platform in accordance with the retention period under applicable laws, regulations and company policies.

Will Boston Scientific sell or share your personal information?

BSC will not sell or lease your personal information to a third party; however, there are certain circumstances where we may share your personal information without additional notice to you. In addition to the disclosures described throughout this policy, and subject to applicable law, we and our third parties may disclose your personal information:

  • To affiliates and subsidiaries for purposes consistent with this policy
  • To unaffiliated third parties that are under contract to perform services for or on behalf of Boston Scientific (e.g., to maintain computer database, perform marketing activities, or conduct surveys)
  • In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event
  • To other persons as permitted by applicable law or regulation
  • To law enforcement personnel and agencies, including to meet national security or regulatory requirements, or as part of a legal process, in order to protect Boston Scientific rights or in furtherance of an investigation.

We may share aggregate data with selected third parties. For example, Boston Scientific may disclose aggregate usage data to third parties to understand how the Platform is used or for marketing purposes. Aggregate data does not identify individuals.

The access granted to our affiliates, subsidiaries, and third parties is limited solely to the purpose for which such information was provided. Furthermore, we require our affiliates, subsidiaries and third parties to uphold and maintain Boston Scientific's policies with respect to privacy and the treatment of your personal information.

What allows the fair processing of your personal information?

We rely on our legitimate interest to process your personal information in order to enhance your customer experience and satisfaction.

What are your rights?

You may have specific rights with respect to the processing of your personal information by Boston Scientific, which are detailed here.

Under certain circumstances as set forth in applicable law, you may have the following rights:

  • The right to withdraw your consent to this processing at any time. The withdrawal of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal
  • The right to be informed about and access the personal information that we hold
  • The right to have inaccurate personal information about you corrected or completed if it is incomplete
  • The right to request that Boston Scientific deletes some or all of your personal information when it is no longer necessary
  • The right to object to the processing of your personal information for targeted marketing or for profiling you
  • The right to request from Boston Scientific that it limits the way it uses your personal information
  • The right to receive a portable copy of your personal information; and/or
  • The right to non-discrimination related to your exercise of these rights.

Boston Scientific will attend to your request in a timely manner after receiving your request and appropriate identity-verifying information. If for any reason we need to extend the time period for fulfilling your request, we will contact you.
