Accelerating possibilities

When we challenge inequities, we advance health care possibilities for people and communities.

Our commitment to improving patient outcomes inspires us to address global health disparities. We collaborate with partners outside the company to expand community education, increase health care provider outreach and break down barriers to care.

ELEGANCE drives critical clinical insights for underrepresented patient populations

Approximately 200 million people around the world are affected by peripheral artery disease, a common circulatory problem that disproportionately affects Black men and women. Clinical studies for the disease typically do not include the common patient populations affected by the disease.

As of 2022, Boston Scientific’s ELEGANCE registry is currently exceeding its goal to increase the representation of women and underrepresented minorities in clinical trials to better reflect the populations affected by peripheral artery disease. Current enrollment spans 46 global sites and includes 43% women and 47% underrepresented minorities.

“Increasing diversity in medical research is a critical step to ensure that everyone can benefit from treatments and therapies. Now is the time to eliminate disparities in health care — once and for all.”
