- Active clinical trial is defined as a clinical trial that existed during the reporting year with an active subject enrolled. An active subject is defined as someone who is enrolled in a clinical trial who has not died, withdrawn or completed the study. Studies are included even if the active subject withdrew, died, or the study was closed during the reporting period. Active studies do not include retrospective studies, surveys, investigator sponsored research (ISRs), real world evidence (RWE), and collaboratives.
- Represents GAAP R&D expense as a percentage of GAAP net sales per Annual Report on Form 10-K.
- In 2025 Boston Scientific began working with an external consultant and technology platform to enable multiple regression statistical pay equity analyses, this process included refinement of our methodology. The Pay Equity analyses for 2025 were conducted over homogenous job families and subfamilies in our global career framework spanning our global workforce in 2025 based on pay as of September 2025, with the exception of our United States sales workforce which we anticipate future capabilities to analyze. Boston Scientific defines "pay equity" as similar pay for similar work.
- Includes renewable electricity generated onsite (e.g., solar) and purchased electricity matched with electricity attributed to renewable sources via energy attribute certificates (EACs) purchased through the open market, purchased through an energy provider, or associated with virtual Power Purchase Agreements.
- Inclusive of key manufacturing and distribution sites only.
- Percentage of self-identified CAPAs initiated and evaluated in the reporting year deemed effective meaning the solutions adequately addressed the CAPA problem statements and met the pre defined 'effective' criteria.
- Excludes direct labor.
