Endoscopic Ultrasound Diagnostics

Enhancing Diagnostic Accuracy at Every Step, Supporting First Time Procedural Success

Variability in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) operator expertise, procedural complexity, and access to advanced tools can limit consistent diagnostic yield and procedural confidence.1

At Boston Scientific, our innovative EUS technologies are designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy across a range of pancreatic lesions and anatomical locations, providing healthcare professionals with the tools to guide informed therapeutic decision-making and support first-time procedural success.

Advancing Diagnosis with our EUS Tissue Acquisition Portfolio

We offer evidence-backed EUS needle technologies designed to support diagnostic yield and procedural efficiency across both fine-needle biopsy (FNB) and endoscopic ultrasound fine-needle aspiration (FNA) techniques. Backed by a track record2 in accurate diagnosis, they can help reduce repeat procedures, allowing clinicians to better manage patient wellbeing.

EUS Fine-Needle Biopsy

Obtaining core tissue architecture under EUS guidance can deliver the histological detail needed for confident diagnosis and advanced therapeutic planning.

The Franseen needle has been used for over 50 years in interventional radiologyand was adopted in diagnostic EUS in 2016. In a meta-analysis of studies, FNB was shown to perform significantly better than FNA across three key measures:4

Our Acquire™ and Acquire™ S devices are EUS-FNB Franseen-tip needles designed to collect larger, adequate histologic core tissue for accurate pancreatic biopsy and diagnosis using the fanning technique.

They feature three points to provide stability at puncture, and high-quality, fully formed heals to maximise tissue capture and minimise fragmentation. This design may result in improved diagnostic yield and specimen adequacy to support oncology research.

The Acquire™ S Endoscopic Ultrasound Fine Needle Biopsy (FNB) Device

The Acquire™ S Endoscopic Ultrasound FNB Device is designed for ease of puncture and to help maximise diagnostic yield without compromising the quality of core tissue samples required for an accurate diagnosis. It features Taper Point Stylet geometry designed to keep the stylet tip centred within the sheath, even when the device is advanced through highly curved or tortuous scope positions.6

Acquire S

It can be used in either the advanced or retracted position, allowing you to choose the configuration that best suits your technique and preference.

EUS Fine-Needle Aspiration

FNA remains a versatile and widely adopted approach in EUS‑guided tissue acquisition, offering high procedural flexibility and reliable cytological assessment across a broad range of lesion types.

The Expect™ Slimline (SL) Endoscopic Ultrasound Aspiration Needle

The Expect™ Slimline (SL) Needle is an EUS-FNA designed for four diagnostic and therapeutic indications, providing you with multiple clinical options. It features a sharp needle grind for precise targeting and sampling, and compared to some stainless-steel alloys, its cobalt-chromium construction* offers superior needle penetration, improved pushability and kink resistance, and increased resistance to needle damage or deformation.7
