Versatile Endoscopic Closure Tools for Diverse Clinical Needs

Choosing the Right Closure

Effective closure depends on selecting the most appropriate solution for the size, depth, and location of the defect, as well as procedural intent. Selecting the right approach supports safe, effective outcomes and helps complete the resection pathway with confidence.

In higher-risk scenarios such as larger lesions, right-sided colon resections, or rectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), prophylactic closure can play a key role in reducing the risk of delayed adverse events, particularly delayed bleeding, supporting more predictable recovery and reducing the need for additional interventions or extended hospital stays.

Why Prophylactic Closure After Resection Matters

physician in mask

Prophylactic closure of postresection defects can help reduce delayed adverse events, most notably delayed bleeding, especially in higher risk scenarios such as large lesions, right sided colon, or rectal ESD.1-3

Evidence continues to evolve, but multiple randomised and comparative studies show meaningful reductions in delayed bleeding when closure is applied selectively.4-8

Real World Evidence

Reduced delayed bleeding after colorectal ESD in RCTs.1

Relative reduction in delayed bleeding.2

Real-world multicentre data show lower bleeding and fewer overnight stays.3

Prophylactic closure plays a key role in completing the resection pathway and supporting procedural consistency.
