Our Commitment

Our commitment to improving patient health comes with a responsibility to protect the planet we all share. In 2017, we were the first global MedTech company to set an ambitious target of carbon neutrality in our manufacturing and distribution sites by 2030.
In addition to this, we have officially joined the United Nations Race to Zero and Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign.
In doing so, Boston Scientific commits to setting science-based emissions reduction targets that will put us on a path to achieve net-zero emissions across our entire value chain by 2050.

Our Promise

From January 2021 to December 2022, for every four LithoVue™ single-use digital flexible ureteroscopes utilised in EMEA, we will plant one tree in the Boston Scientific forest.

C3 Strategy1

A central component of the company’s carbon neutrality approach is our C3 energy strategy. Global and site teams collaborate across Boston Scientific to meet its objectives.

LithoVue™ vs. Reusable Ureteroscopes

Data is limited on this topic, however a recent study1 found that the carbon footprint of a single-use and reusable ureteroscope is comparable.

The study shows that the two different ureteroscopes have comparable environmental impacts: the total carbon footprint of each device evaluated compares favourably with other medical equipment and surgical procedures.2
