Dave received his first Guidant (now Boston Scientific) pacemaker after suffering a heart attack just a few days after Christmas in 2000. His doctor recommended a pacemaker to help regulate his heart rhythm.
In December of 2007, Dave received a replacement Boston Scientific pacemaker and experienced its technological advances firsthand. His new pacemaker, the ALTRUA S602, has what is called a “blended-sensor” feature.
“With my first pacemaker, sweeping the floor or walking I would get tired very quickly. When I went on to get my second pacemaker, the batteries were getting low. I didn’t expect it to be any different. With this pacemaker, I hadn’t felt this good in a long time. I don’t know what I can’t do.”
