Symptoms

What are the symptoms of heart failure?
Symptoms include tiredness, shortness of breath with or without exercise, wheezing, fluid retention (swollen ankles and legs) or a dry hacking cough after lying down.

Diagnosis

How is heart failure diagnosed?
In addition to a physical exam, your doctor may use blood tests, x-rays, an ECG test, an echocardiogram, or other tests to diagnose heart failure.
