Supporting Education, Research & Patient Care

Boston Scientific is committed to advancing healthcare through support of medical education, scientific exchange, and charitable initiatives that benefit patients and communities.

This page provides an overview of Boston Scientific’s process for Educational Grants and Charitable Donations in Canada. It includes information on how eligible organizations can access our portal, submit applications, and understand the review process.

Grant & Donation requirements

Boston Scientific may provide funding to educational or medical institutions, healthcare organizations (HCOs), or professional congress organizations (PCOs) to advance medical science, healthcare education, and patient or public education. Support may include: (i) independent educational, academic, or training programs that promote scientific knowledge, medical progress, or effective healthcare delivery; (ii) patient and public education on important healthcare topics and therapies.

Requirements

  • A completed and signed Educational Grant Request Letter from the HCO or PCO, including:
    • Event name, date, location, and a brief description
    • Purpose of the grant
    • Intended use of the grant funds
    • Amount requested and a detailed budget breakdown
    • Banking or payment details
  • A draft program agenda
  • Statutes or bylaws confirming that the requestor is permitted to receive grant funding

A fellowship is an advanced postgraduate training program in a field relevant to Boston Scientific. It must be affiliated with an academic medical institution or medical society and provide specialized, practical experience in the applicable field. Boston Scientific may fund fellowship programs in specialties aligned with its areas of interest.

Requirements

  • A completed and signed Fellowship Grant Request Letter from the requesting institution or medical society, including the fellowship’s purpose, structure, duration, curriculum, selection process, funding amount, detailed budget, and payment details, if applicable
  • A detailed fellowship program description
  • Documentation confirming the program’s affiliation with an academic medical institution or medical society
  • Statutes or bylaws confirming that the requestor is permitted to receive grant funding

Boston Scientific may provide monetary donations to eligible charitable or not-for-profit organizations that address documented community, healthcare, humanitarian, or philanthropic needs. Each request is evaluated using objective criteria, including the amount requested, the community or region served, the demonstrated need, the frequency of requests, and Boston Scientific’s previous support of the organization. The purpose and intended use of the donation must be clearly documented. Donations must never be used as a price concession, reward for business, or inducement to purchase, lease, recommend, prescribe, use, supply, or procure Boston Scientific products or services. Recipients must have recognized charitable or not-for-profit status under applicable local law, and donations may be made only to eligible institutions, organizations, or entities—not to individuals or through third parties.

Requirements

  • A request letter from the charitable organization or requestor that includes:
    • A detailed description of the charitable or philanthropic activity
    • The purpose of the request, event, or activity
    • How the requested funds will be used
    • The amount requested and a detailed budget breakdown
    • Banking or payment details
  • A certificate or other documentation confirming the recipient’s charitable or not-for-profit status

Boston Scientific may occasionally provide limited quantities of Boston Scientific products in connection with a charitable request for the care and treatment of indigent patients. Products for clinical use may be donated only for charitable, humanitarian, or disaster-relief efforts, or in limited quantities to support indigent patient care.

Requirements

  • A request letter stating:
    • The donation’s purpose and benefit to indigent patients or a humanitarian effort
    • The products and quantities requested
  • Statutes, bylaws, or other documentation confirming that the requestor is permitted to receive charitable funding
