CMS Simplified the
Single-use Endoscope TPT Calculation
What does the device offset deduction change mean for your hospital?
Boston Scientific’s application for a transitional pass-through (TPT) payment category was approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for single-use endoscopes used during ERCP. Effective July 1, 2020, hospitals may use the new TPT code, C1748, to receive incremental device specific payment for EXALT Model D in addition to the payment for the ERCP procedure when used to treat Medicare patients in the hospital outpatient setting.
As a direct result of Boston Scientific’s continued advocacy, CMS simplified the single-use endoscope TPT calculation by eliminating the device offset deduction resulting in more adequate payment.
