The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) published an expert consensus statement on the perioperative management of patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) in July 2011. The purpose of the document is to provide guidance on the management of patients with CIEDs during and after surgical or medical procedures. The guidelines are intended to give CIED professionals guidance in the provision of an appropriate prescription for the perioperative care of patients with CIEDs.
These videos feature Dr. Arjun Sharma, VP of Patient Safety at Boston Scientific, and Dr. George Crossely, EP and President of Mid-State Cardiology Associates and lead author of the consensus statement.
