Dear Boston Scientific Customer, We at Boston Scientific are pleased to announce the combination of several of our businesses into a new entity called the Boston Scientific Cardiology, Rhythm and Vascular (CRV) Group. The businesses included in this new organization are Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management, Electrophysiology, Peripheral Solutions, Neurovascular and Imaging. Bringing these businesses together will help us better serve our customers and their patients through our unmatched portfolio of cardiac and vascular therapies today -- and enhance our ability to continue delivering innovation in the future. Taking a broad view of the CRV pipeline will help us better allocate resources and bring new technologies to market more quickly. We will focus future investments in target growth areas such as structural heart, atrial fibrillation and hypertension as well as ongoing innovation in DES and CRM technologies. We intend to continue investing more than $1 billion annually in R&D across Boston Scientific. We will also extend our historic leadership in clinical science. As health care decision makers demand more comparative effectiveness data to guide evidence-based medicine, our efforts will focus on trials that demonstrate the unique value of Boston Scientific products and therapies. The combination of our cardiovascular businesses more closely aligns with the cardiovascular service lines offered in most health care systems today. Being able to offer contracts that include a greater breadth and depth of products will help us provide better value to hospitals and health systems. Hospital administrations will enjoy a more streamlined approach to working with Boston Scientific as a result of having a centralized contact for contracting. While the formation of this new entity is providing new roles for both of us within the leadership ranks, you will not see a change in the Boston Scientific representatives you work with on a daily basis. We remain committed to maintaining our organization of experienced, specialty-specific field representatives.
