Boston Scientific is a leading medical device company that is committed to advancing the practice of less-invasive medicine. As part of this commitment we proudly support third-party medical research and educational conferences through our divisional research and educational grant programs. These programs provide financial and/or product support for worthwhile medical research projects and educational conferences, as well as for a select number of fellowship positions.
All grants for third-party research, educational programs, fellowships, or requests for charitable contributions -- regardless of the amount requested -- must be approved by a Boston Scientific grant committee. In each Boston Scientific division, a cross-functional, multidisciplinary committee meets regularly to review grant applications. These committees review applications against established criteria to help assure that proposals are evaluated on their individual merit and without regard to past, present or future purchases of Boston Scientific products.
For research grants, Boston Scientific CRM has created The Center for the Advancement of Research (CARE) to enable Boston Scientific CRM to support physicians' research ideas and interests by working directly with them.
CARE oversees the Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) Program, which consolidates and tracks the evaluation, funding, and follow-up of investigator-sponsored research proposals that are supported by Boston Scientific CRM.
CARE maintains a website (www.guidantcare.com) and a web-enabled database to track project progress through the entire process. Additional details regarding CARE and the ISR Program can be obtained at this website.
