Introduction to Occlusive Carotid Artery Disease

Program Overview:
This course presents a thorough review of aortic arch and great vessel anatomy and pathophysiology. It provides a review of cerebrovascular disease as it relates specifically to carotid atherosclerosis. Participants also examine diagnosis tools and current treatment options for carotid occlusive disease.

Program Objectives:
Upon completion of this program, the participant should be able to:

• Describe cerebrovascular disease, carotid occlusive disease pathophysiology and current treatment options
• Understand age-related changes to the aortic arch and great vessels
• Describe the anatomy of the aortic arch and great vessels
• Describe tools used to diagnose carotid artery disease

Intended Audience:
This program is intended for registered nurses and radiologic technologists.

Program Location/Availability:
Program is presented in-person and held on-site at the hospital.

Requirements for Successful Completion

The presenter will monitor the program for attendance for the entire program, and attendees should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their attendance. Participants are requested to complete the pre- and post-evaluations for the program.
