Transbronchial Biopsy (TBB)

A transbronchial biopsy is a non-surgical procedure performed using a bronchoscope and special biopsy forceps designed to be used in the lung. During a transbronchial biopsy (TBB), biopsy forceps are used to retrieve a small piece of tissue from a suspicious area of the lung or airway. The tissue sample is then examined to diagnose lung disease.

Pulmonary Biopsy Forceps

Boston Scientific manufactures a line of pulmonary biopsy forceps for the collection of tissue endoscopically and fluoroscopically for histological examination. The Radial Jaw® 3 Biopsy Forceps possess full surface, micro-mesh teeth designed to facilitate a clean, precise resection of tissue. The pivoting head is designed to allow for tangential tissue acquisition. The Radial Edge™ Biopsy Forceps are designed with a smooth, bilaterally sharpened cup edge to facilitate clean resection with less risk of trauma.
