Overview

Multi-Diameter Balloon Dilator

In 1998, Boston Scientific introduced its first multi-diameter balloon dilator. The patented and proprietary CRE™ Balloon Dilator is an over-the-wire multi-diameter controlled radial expansion balloon dilator. It is designed to deliver 3 distinct, pressure-controlled diameters in 1 balloon at 3 separate pressures during in-vivo dilation at body temperature. From this design, Boston Scientific has manufactured a balloon specifically for use in the airway. The multi-diameter CRE Pulmonary Balloon Dilator is indicated to dilate luminal strictures and is the only balloon currently with an indication for dilation of the airway tree.
