In what ways are you celebrating Black History Month at Boston Scientific?
The purpose of this annual observance is to honor the African-American experience and history of the African diaspora. During this time, I am intentional about reflection and am always inspired by the pioneers before me. There are a number of activities that happen at Boston Scientific, including a month-long program at each campus. We’ve organized social gatherings to increase cultural awareness and emphasize community, professional development sessions featuring inspirational talks from internal leaders and external subject matter experts, and community volunteerism focusing on diverse youth and STEM education.
What have you gained in being a BRIDGE member?
The members of our Employee Resources Groups are integral contributors to the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. In leadership through BRIDGE, I’ve been able to sharpen skills beyond my role responsibilities. I get to engage with senior executives and have met people from across the company I otherwise wouldn’t have crossed paths with. Having this cross-functional and cross-divisional network has expanded my business acumen and given me a broader understanding of Boston Scientific as a company. I also enjoy the unique and fun opportunities I get through BRIDGE to serve as a BSC brand ambassador at external events.
