2010 Final Physician Fee Schedule Rule
Medicare released final changes to the physicians reimbursement rates effective January 2010 to December 2010. Payment rates decreased on average from 3 to 6%. EP procedure payments decreased on average from 9% to 12%. Medicare also removed specialty consult fees and will require specialists to use regular office visit fees.
2010 Final Outpatient and ASC Rule
Medicare released final changes to the outpatient and ASC reimbursement rates effective January 2010 to December 2010. The 2010 payment rates are positive news for CRM and EP procedures especially in light of broader healthcare reform pressures. Rates were either stable or increased from 2009 payment amounts.
2010 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) Final Rule
Medicare released final changes to the hospital inpatient reimbursement rates effective October 2009 to September 2010. Inpatient payment rates will increase by an average of 2.1% despite expectations that Medicare would implement a 1.9% reduction in payment.
