• In 2007, Boston Scientific introduced the SpyGlass® Direct Visualization System. The SpyGlass Direct Visualization System is a single-use direct visualization system that requires only one operator and provides both 4-way steerability and dedicated irrigation channels in addition to a working channel through which diagnostic and therapeutic devices can be used in the biliary ducts. Direct visualization potentially offers significant procedural and clinical advantages over conventional Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), the procedure used to diagnose and treat challenging conditions of the bile ducts, such as removing gallstones, opening obstructed bile ducts and obtaining biopsies in suspected tumors.

  The cholangioscopy system is designed for use with therapeutic devices such as the SpyBite™ Biopsy Forceps.

• The market-leading Radial Jaw® Biopsy Forceps product family was expanded with the introduction of Radial Jaw 4 Biopsy Forceps, designed to provide larger tissue specimens than Radial Jaw 3 Biopsy Forceps for sampling handling, preparation and accurate histological diagnosis.
  
  
• Boston Scientific introduced the Resolution® Clip for hemostasis, the only mechanical clip on the market designed to open and close (up to five times) before deployment. This feature is designed to enable a physician to see the effects of the clip before committing to deployment.
