Cardiac resynchronization therapy is for the treatment of heart failure (HF) and uses biventricular electrical stimulation to synchronize ventricular contractions.
A cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemaker (CRT-P) is a special pacemaker for people with heart failure. Like any pacemaker, a CRT-P treats heart rhythms that are too slow. In addition, a CRT-P treats heart failure by helping your ventricles (lower heart chambers) pump together — in "synchrony." A CRT-P is sometimes called a "biventricular pacemaker."
