The slippery Glidewire guidewire is designed to provide consistent access to the ureteral orifice independent of anatomic variation and reduces the risk of trauma and obstructive edema.

The Glidewire® guidewire with Bentson-Type Tip provides the additional tip flexibility for negotiation of an atypically narrowed ureter and facilitates secure atraumatic placement within the renal pelvis.

Available with straight and angled soft, flexible 3cm and Bentson-Type tips, the Glidewire Stiff Shaft guidewire is designed to provide added pushability for increased placement control. Torque is transmitted for better handling.

Handling the Glidewire guidewire. Flush the hoop with 10cc of sterile saline solution, allowing the fluid to drip from the open end. Repeat if the guidewire cannot be easily removed. Remove the guidewire from the hoop by gently gripping the tip end using a piece of saline-moistened gauze. DO NOT use dry gauze as it can damage the surface coating and make the wire tacky. Do not discard hoop; the guidewire must be returned to it after each use. As the guidewire is removed from the patient, wipe it with saline-moistened gauze. Feed the stiff end of the guidewire into the open end of the hoop. This is exactly the reverse process of Step 2. Now flush the guidewire as in Step 1. Keep the guidewire in the saline-filled hoop until it is required again. After the case, discard the guidewire.
