Reading Buddies

For the past four years, Kathleen Buzay has taken time to volunteer as a reading buddy at Mounds View Public Schools. Recently, she visited with a fourth-grader during the lunch hour at Valentine Hills Elementary School.

Boston Scientific is a corporate partner for the Reading Buddies program, which provides one-on-one mentorship to elementary students who need help in reading. The program fosters enthusiasm for reading and helps build students’ confidence and self-esteem.

The Mounds View Public Schools serve the Minnesota cities of Arden Hills, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights and portions of Spring Lake Park and White Bear Township.

Galway’s Charity of the Year

Since launching the Charity of the Year initiative in 2005, employees in Boston Scientific’s Galway, Ireland facility have raised more than €300,000 for local charities.

FIRST Robotics Mentoring Program

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology, and is currently chaired by Boston Scientific co-founder John Abele. FIRST supports a number of different youth activities but is best known for the FIRST Robotics Competition.

BestPrep eMentors

BestPrep is a Minnesota -wide mentoring program with a mission to provide young students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be prepared to face the economic and career challenges of the future. Boston Scientific volunteers have participated in Best Prep for several years, speaking in the classroom or at summer camps on business, technology and financial literacy topics.
