BestPrep is a Minnesota-wide program with a mission to provide grade 4-12 students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be prepared to face the economic and career challenges of the future. BestPrep provides leadership in enhancing the quality of economic and business education through relationship development and innovative programs that broaden the diversity of the educational reach while supporting the needs of the economically disadvantaged.
Volunteers from Boston Scientific’s Minneapolis offices have participated in the BestPrep program for several years. Employees are helping to invest in the next generation of business leaders by serving as eMentors, and by addressing students in a classroom or summer camp environment on topics ranging from business and technology to financial literacy.
The eMentoring program offers students the chance to develop a relationship with adults other than parents and teachers, connecting their learning to the business world in a structured, school-sponsored environment. Students are matched with employees, allowing each pair to exchange weekly emails based on a series of directed questions, with teachers guiding and monitoring the process. eMentoring allows students to interact with a business professional to gain experience and help set expectations for their future careers.
