Power to Save…It’s in Your Hands
Boston Scientific’s Galway, Ireland facility has launched an energy reduction campaign. Their goal is to reduce energy costs and minimize environmental impacts by shutting down office equipment and computers at the end of the day and switching off lights in unused rooms. The facility promotes these efforts by, among other things, sending out friendly reminders to turn off lights and computers when leaving for the weekend. They are also encouraging awareness by sponsoring outside vendors to talk to employees about energy conservation strategies for the home.
Carpooling
The Galway facility has also initiated a carpooling program to promote the potential benefits of saving fuel, lowering stress levels, and helping to create a cleaner environment.
Paper Waste Reduction Campaign
The Galway facility has launched a campaign to reduce the unnecessary use of paper at its facility. Suggestions for reducing paper and ink/toner cartridges include:
- Reduce the number of e-mails and documents printed
- Use double sided printing wherever possible
- Make copies only when necessary
- Spread the word about paper reduction
- Place used paper in recycling bins only
