Community Involvement

In line with our corporate mission to help clinicians improve patients' lives, Boston Scientific is at work in the community, supporting national, local and international charitable efforts committed to expanding access to quality healthcare and educational opportunities for the underserved. An important focus for the Company is encouraging students to pursue career paths within the fields of health, science and technology. Boston Scientific is committed to helping address achievement gaps in these fields through support of a variety of educational programs. By dedicating time, expertise and financial resources in the communities where our employees live and work, we are helping to improve health and educational opportunities for those in need.

Boston Scientific’s support of educational programs is focused on fueling the next generation of life science innovators. Our two main areas of focus are intended to foster an interest in math and science among children and pre-teens, and to encourage and support budding high-school and college-aged scientists, engineers, and clinicians who share a passion to make life better for others.

Galway’s Charity of the Year

Since launching the Charity of the Year initiative in 2005, Boston Scientific employees in Galway, Ireland have raised more than €400,000 for local charities.

FIRST Robotics Mentoring Program

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology, and is currently chaired by Boston Scientific co-founder John Abele. FIRST supports a number of different youth activities but is best known for the FIRST Robotics Competition.

BestPrep eMentors

BestPrep is a Minnesota -wide mentoring program with a mission to provide young students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be prepared to face the economic and career challenges of the future. Boston Scientific volunteers have participated in Best Prep for several years, speaking in the classroom or at summer camps on business, technology and financial literacy topics.
