Joseph M. Fitzgerald

President and General Manager, Peripheral Interventions

Joe Fitzgerald is President and General Manager of the Peripheral Interventions business at Boston Scientific Corporation with overall responsibility for our peripheral vascular and neurovascular business units.

Prior to his current role, Joe was President of the Company’s Electrophysiology business. In this role, the business experienced double-digit sales and profitability growth and maintained its market-leading position in the catheter ablation market segment.

Previously, Joe held a variety of management positions in Boston Scientific’s Neurovascular and Peripheral Interventions businesses. This included numerous regional and divisional sales management assignments up to and including his roles as Vice President, Global Marketing and U.S. Sales for the Neurovascular business. Joe joined Boston Scientific in 1990 as a sales representative.

Prior to joining the Company, Joe was with Anheuser Busch, Inc., where he held a variety of sales, marketing, and training assignments.

Joe earned a B.S. in Business from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois with a concentration in marketing and finance.


Tony Gibbons

Regional President, Inter-Continental

Tony Gibbons is Regional President of Inter-Continental at Boston Scientific Corporation, which includes Japan, Asia, Latin America and Canada.

Tony joined the Company in 1991 as an Endoscopy sales representative responsible for the Company's Florida territory and most recently was Vice President, International Sales and General Manager. In this role, he was responsible for overall sales execution of the business, which included training and developing more than 1,200 sales representatives and 400 sales managers in 67 countries. He was also responsible for the Company's Canadian operations overseeing more than 125 employees.

Previously, he was Vice President and General Manager of the Company's operations in Latin America and Canada, where he increased sales growth by 75 percent. Prior to this, Tony was Country Director of the Company's Canada operations.

Prior to Boston Scientific, Tony was with Harris/Lanier Corporation, where he held a variety of sales and sales management roles.

Tony earned a B.S. in both Economics and Marketing from Alfred University in 1987.


Maulik Nanavaty

President, Boston Scientific Japan

Maulik Nanavaty is President of Boston Scientific Japan at the Boston Scientific Corporation.

Maulik joined Boston Scientific in 2005 as Vice President for Corporate Strategy for Japan, where he led a successful business transformation and contributed to a high level of operational efficiency. Most recently, Maulik was Vice President and General Manager of Japan's Interventional Cardiology business. During his tenure, Maulik managed the successful launch of the Company’s TAXUS® Express2™ drug-eluting stent system in Japan. Prior to joining Boston Scientific, Maulik served for 16 years in various executive positions at Baxter International, Inc., and Baxter Japan.

Maulik holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Illinois and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.


Mark H. Paul

President, Neurovascular

Mark Paul is President of Neurovascular at Boston Scientific Corporation.

Mark joined Boston Scientific in 1991 as territory manager for its Medi-Tech division. Most recently, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Boston Scientific International, leading 10 international business franchises and marketing support functions. Previously, Mark held a variety of marketing positions in the Company's Peripheral Interventions, Neurovascular, Oncology and Vascular Surgery businesses. He was Boston Scientific's first Neurovascular product manager and subsequently held a series of marketing positions with increasing management responsibility, including Director of Marketing in Europe for the Company's Peripheral Interventions, Oncology and Vascular Surgery businesses.

Prior to Boston Scientific, Mark held a variety of sales management positions with Procter & Gamble's paper and soap divisions.

Mark earned a B.A. in English Literature Studies from the University of Utah where he spent time at the Universite de Neuchatel in Switzerland and Cambridge University in England.


John B. Pedersen

President, Urology and Gynecology

John Pedersen is President of the Urology and Gynecology business at Boston Scientific Corporation. Prior to assuming this role, John was President of the Company’s Peripheral Interventions (PI) business. John lead the PI business through a challenging period of implementing continuous quality improvement programs in the face of increased competition in the market. During this period, he refocused the business strategy to key growth areas within PI with special emphasis on interventional cardiologists and vascular surgeons. Ultimately, John and his team helped combine the PI business unit into a larger cardiovascular group. Prior to his role as President of PI, John served as President of Boston Scientific’s Urology and Gynecology business. Heavy investments were made to sustain leadership in Urology and build a Gynecology business during his first tenure as President. Sales doubled for the business during this period to more than $300 million. Previously, John was President of the Company’s Neurovascular business. He joined the Company in 1996 as Director of New Business Development.

Before joining Boston Scientific, John was a Senior Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Company.

John earned a B.A. from Princeton University, completed coursework with Thomas Jefferson Medical College, and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the New England Chapter of the Young President’s Organization.


Michael P. Phalen

President, Endoscopy

Michael Phalen is President of the Endoscopy business at Boston Scientific Corporation. He joined the Company in 1988 and has held a variety of management positions.

Prior to becoming President of the Endoscopy business, he was Vice President, Business Unit Manager for Endoscopic Surgery and Vice President of Global Marketing for Endoscopy. Prior to these appointments, Michael held positions as Director of Marketing, Group Product Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Product Manager and Territory Manager.

Before joining the Company, he held management positions with MD Technology, Kendall Healthcare and Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals. He earned his B.S. in General Science from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
